Future Professional Communication in Astronomy

The present volume gathers together the talks presented at the colloquium on the "Future Professional Communication in Astronomy (FPCA)", held at the Palace of the Academies in Brussels on 11-13 June 2007.

The meeting was motivated by a convergence of facts and trends in the world of publishing, as well as by comments and interrogations heard more and more frequently within the astronomy community.

The FPCA colloquium made quietly history as, for the first time, it convened all major partners – publishers, editors, archive managers, officers of learned societies, as well as scientists – involved in professional communication processes. The contributions presented in this volume describe their activities, projects and questions on the future. The summaries of two forums (editors, publishers) are also included, as well as the main conclusions from the numerous discussions held during the colloquium.
